Will an American women's figure skater medal? Or will the streak – much to NBC's chagrin – end at 42 years and 11 Olympics? That pressure falls squarely on the sequined shoulders of Rachael Flatt, 17, and Mirai Nagasu, 16. Flatt blew away the competition last... Full Article at Dallas Morning News

With everything -- jumps, footwork, spins, transitions, expression -- now quantifiable, some complain that artistry is being sacrificed in the effort to crunch every last decimal out of a program. American Mirai Nagasu and other figure skaters must decide... Full Article at Southern CA Press-Enterprise

I kind of wanted to think, and sometimes thinking isn't good for me
To me, the most exciting thing that can happen is that within the ladies group, anything can happen ... From a pure mercenary standpoint, Sasha Cohen would be great. There’s name recognition there. There’s nobody on my cul de sac who has heard of Rachal Flatt or Mirai Nagasu or Alissa Czisny. The questi...
I'm just honored and just excited about all the free stuff we'll get ... I hope a medal will come, too. But you never know. I'm just going to skate my heart out there.
We don't have a strong Michelle Kwan or Kristi Yamaguchi to lead us
I'm just excited about all the free stuff we're going to get ... I hope a medal will come, too.
We don't have like a Michelle Kwan or Kristi Yamaguchi to lead us on ... But I feel that because we are young we have our big dreams to lead us on.
It's just Rachael and me, and we're just going to blow them away
I've always said I was trying not to think about the Olympics, but it was always in the back of my mind
I was downgraded on three? ... I just know I was downgraded on both my triple toes (jumps). … I don't know. I'll keep working on everything.
I'm just excited about all the free stuff (team gear, etc.) we'll get, and I hope a medal will come, too
This year it's been really hard for us because the economy isn't doing so well ... I'm so excited to tell them the news because I'm the first Olympian in my family.
The Olympics were always in the back of my mind ... We don't have a Michelle Kwan or Kristi Yamaguchi to lead us on. Even though we're young, we still have our big dreams to lead us on.

I skated last and had a lot of time to think and sometimes thinking isn't good for me because I overthink and get nervous ... I was glad I was able to overcome that.
I think my own thinking is harsher than my mom’s discipline ... I think it’s because I’m so hard on myself that I can push myself this far.
I don’t even feel like I’m in first place ... because the field is so strong and it’s not even separated by a point.
I just want to make a better impression than last year and keep climbing up the mountain because the journey is still long for me ... If I make it, it's a great opportunity for me. If I don't, I'll just put my sweat into the next Olympics.
I'm telling people not to talk about it ... I'm trying to forget about it so I can just focus on the long program.
There's still another step to climb
The U.S. is not at the top of figure skating right now ... and I think that is an embarrassment because of the rich history that the USA has.
I think it's very impressive that even after four years, she hasn't lost her competitive streak ... Just the ability to be able to pull together a performance even though she hasn't competed this season shows she's a skating icon.
Last year was a little difficult to skate from my heart ... and I felt like I was able to do that tonight for the first time... I’m just here to show myself and everyone I’m the future of the USA.
I'm not in my personal bubble all the time
